How Our Dental Practice is Responding to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Our team and patient’s health and safety are our top priority.

We are closely monitoring all official announcements regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) and are following recommendations provided by the health authorities.

With all this in mind, we will continue to be open for dental appointments.
However, we do ask that patients and visitors delay their visit to our practice if you have:

  • recently returned from overseas travel in the last 14 days
  • been in contact with anyone who has been diagnosed with or suspected of having coronavirus in the last 14 days

or are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

  • High temperature/Fever
  • Shortness of breath
  • Sore throat
  • Cough
  • Runny nose

We stringently follow and comply with the Australian Dental Association (ADA) and AHPRA approved standards of infection control and endeavour to make all our practices safe and are working hard to do our part to limit the spread of the virus.

Sterilisation

All instruments utilised within our dental practices are intensively sterilised and processed in an autoclave. An autoclave uses superheated steam to kill ALL bugs.

Surface disinfection

All surfaces that our patients, and team, come into contact with during and after treatment are either covered by single-use plastic or wiped down with disinfectant. This is carried out before and after every single patient.

Protecting you and us

Our dental professionals wear gloves, masks, and protective eyewear when with patients. Masks and gloves help to control the spread of infectious particles, and other unwanted germs that reside inside the human mouth.

In addition, we are also further increasing our infection control procedures, such as avoiding shaking hands, regular alcohol wiping of door handles and other surfaces.

How to help prevent spreading of infection:

The World Health Organisation provides general recommendations to prevent the potential spread of infection which include:

  • Washing your hands often (for 20 seconds) with soap and water or alcohol based hand-rub if your hands are not visibly soiled’ after soapy water
  • Cough into your elbow or use a tissue to cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze
  • Avoiding close contact with others, including shaking hands
  • Limiting contact with people who are ill and staying home if you are ill

We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated. We look forward to continuing to provide you and your family with high quality dental care.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions, stay safe and keep well.
